Objectives Of Choral Christian

The goal here at Choral Christian is to encourage and equip Christians with the knowledge they need to live out their faith through choral Christian music. (great hymns of the faith, African music, classical music and contemporary music)

Hymns

In the past couple of years, contemporary music has slowly taken the place of classical hymns of the faith in worship services. some of these song are not rich in doctrinal lessons like the classical Hymns. This category is here to help us rediscover and learn the wonderful lessons contained in the classical hymns of our faith.

African Choral Music

African choral music is not as popular as it should be, considering the amount of excellent composers and choral pieces that exist. Here at choral Christian, one of my objectives to promote African choral music.

Africa boasts of a good number of choral groups like the Harmonious choral Ghana, the Umlazi gospel choir, the Soweto gospel choir and the celestial chorus choir, who sing choral music of all genres from Hymns and contemporary music to medleys and Classicals. African choral music however, has many genres. Some of these genres include:

I will sing to the Lord because He has dealt bountifully with me.
Psalm 13:6

Classical Music

classical music (small ‘c’) is used when referring to Western instrumental, orchestral, vocal and choral music – created for both secular and sacred settings. In this category, I will be a bit more focused on baroque era operas, oratorios, anthems, concerti grossi, and organ concertos.

Grandeur and Ornamentation

Baroque music is known for its grandiose, dramatic, and energetic spirit.

Creativity

Instrumental Suites: Baroque composers transformed courtly dances into instrumental pieces.

Concerto and Concerto Grosso

The Concerto and Concerto Grosso were immensely popular forms. They featured a group of soloists accompanied by an orchestra or ensemble.

Famous Composers

The Baroque era produced iconic composers such as Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, and Purcell.

Contemporary Christian Music

Contemporary Christian music (or CCM and occasionally inspirational music) is a genre of modern popular music, and an aspect of Christian media, which is lyrically focused on matters related to the Christian faith and stylistically rooted in Christian music.

Contemporary music is gradually replacing Hymns in worship services and there are some reservations (check out this article on Hymns, theology and spirituality) While these reservations are justified, there are a lot of wholesome enriching contemporary Christian songs which I plan on introducing you to. Do you think contemporary Christian music honoring to God?
